Winter Vacation in Europe

Winter is a funny time to vacation.  On the one hand, it is, naturally, well… cold.  On the other hand we get a vacation from work and the kids are off school.  A vacation in Europe is interesting, versatile and has a lot to offer.  During the winter many European attractions are closed, however others are very much open for the public all year long.  So, how can we vacation in Europe during winter and still stay warm?

Winter vacation in Europe solution number 1:  Go to warm countries

Europe is not all the same, as far as climate goes.  The more northern and central parts of Europe are very cold indeed, however the southern stretches, especially near the Mediterranean sea, are sometimes quite temperate, even during the winter.  Countries such as Spain, Portugal, Southern Italy, Greece and their islands can offer a nice, warm, winter vacation.  Another options includes Israel and especially Eilat in the south, that is rather warm all year long.

Winter vacation in Europe solution number 2:  Cold countries in the winter

Europe’s colder countries have a lot to offer for winter vacationers, even when it is cold and even if you are not interested in skiing.  It can quite pleasant to wander through cities such as Paris, Munich or Rome, even during the winter.  A winter city vacation to Europe has a few advantages such as lower, off season, prices and fewer tourists that crowd the main attractions.

Winter vacation in Europe solution number 3:  Skiing in Europe

Skiing is not for everybody, but it sure is fun…  Some of the world’s most luxurious ski resorts are in Europe, of course.  Countries such as France, Austria and Italy offer winter ski vacations that are memorable years later.

Winter vacation in Europe solution number 4:  Last minute travel

For those of you not fixed on planning every last detail, last minute travel could be the right thing to do if you wish to travel to a European destination during winter.  Following the various weather services might just land you a clear, relatively warm week in a particular destination.  If you are not set on a specific place to be, and understand that many places have a lot to offer, you might want to try just hopping on a flight to the warmest place you find in the last minute.  Our travel planning service can be very helpful in such a trip, because we can supply you with all you need to know and set you up in hotels in a moments notice, according to your own specifications.

Winter vacation in Europe solution number 5:  Enjoy the holidays

Europe is very beautiful during the winter.  Anyone who dreams of a white Christmas can come to many central and northern European countries and have their wish.  During the holiday season many streets are decorated, and public events are held in central squares all over Europe.  A vacation in which you toasted the new year in Bruges or saluted it in St. Peter’s is a memorable event for years to come.  Another option is to visit the holy attractions in Israel, especially during Christmas and the Silvester.  The holidays in Europe also offer a great opportunity for some winter shopping.  Many sales, such as boxing day sale, are on during the winter.  Prices are down by quite a bit during the winter, so this time of year offers a chance to mix pleasure with pleasure…
